Join me in supporting The Ehlers-Danlos Society they help so many people just like me that wake up to the challenges of EDS. At the age of 46, I was diagnosed with HEDS; Hypermobility Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. I’m actually a disabled veteran and had an accident in 1995 that dislocated my hip, damaged both my knees and broke my tail bone. For years I progressively got worse by 2010 I was using a walker and by 2012 I had to medically retire from my Federal position with DHS. My story, like others, is complicated and far too difficult to put into one paragraph let alone one conversation. So, I started my own Facebook EDS Page called Roar I’m a Zebra. As my life was turned on its head it also came into focus. Since 2013 I have had 24 surgeries and countless procedures, diagnostic testing, hospital visits, and countless doctors. I’m o a feeding tube and have been since the partial removal of my esophagus in 2017. I wear braces on my ankles, hips, and splints on my fingers. I also, have to wear a neck brace almost daily when my neck pain becomes too much or brings on my cranial headaches. The Ehlers Danlos Society has helped me and other zebras in countless ways.
