After thinking/testing my 6yr old daughter for rheumatoid arthritis for months our second rheumatologist finally found our answer. It's definitely not what we expected. Why? Because doctors are taught to assume when they hear hoof beats they're coming from horses. Not everything is what it appears and cannot be properly treated/managed when it is constantly misdiagnosed. That's why the EDS mascot is the zebra!
One of the most common misdiagnosis for EDS is fibromyalgia. Please take 5 minutes and do some research. If not for yourself do it for the people around you. Learn the signs and symptoms. If I had been properly diagnosed I could've prevented a lot of injuries and issues that caused permanent damage. I more importantly could've saved my daughter a lot of unnecessary tests and saved our family a lot of worry and restless nights. There are several types of EDS so please do some research.
