I have joined the May Awareness Month Challenge to spread awareness and raise funds to support The Ehlers-Danlos Society because I was recently diagnosed with EDS. I believe I was not diagnosed at a younger age (although the signs were there even then) because there was so little awareness of the condition. Many doctors still do not even know what EDS is, which makes it difficult to find neccesary and appropriate care. The Ehlers-Danlos Society funds EDS research as well as community outreach and education programs. Please support me in raising awareness for this condition by donating to and sharing my fundraising page. Even a small amount can make a huge difference!

My life with EDS is far from easy. I experience frequent dislocations and subluxations, chronic pain and fatigue, and worry about what the future has in store for me on a daily basis. This is such a debilitating, degenerative condition, and it impacts every single aspect of my life. I was not diagnosed until I was 28 years old, so I was unable to take certain precautions as a child that may have slowed the progression of my disease. I want to do what I can to help spread awareness for this disease so that the next little Zebras who come along do not have to suffer for so long before finally receiving their diagnosis.

The Ehlers-Danlos syndromes (EDS) are a group of heritable connective tissue disorders that produce a spectrum of complex problems across multiple systems of the body. Symptoms that are often seen across all types are hypermobile joints, (that can move farther than normal), stretchy skin, & fragile tissues. Each case is unique and severity may range dramatically, even within families.

The Ehlers-Danlos Society is a global community dedicated to saving & improving the lives of those affected by the Ehlers-Danlos syndromes, hypermobility spectrum disorders, & related conditions. Our goal is world-wide awareness and better quality of life for all who suffer from these conditions, regardless of geography.

Please support me in spreading awareness for this debilitating condition during Ehlers Danlos Awareness Month by donating and sharing this fundraiser. Thank you!
