In Loving Memory of Matthew Miller
My brother, Matthew, tragically passed away on February 19, 2020. He suffered greatly throughout his life from Elhers-Danlos syndrome type 3. The Ehlers-Danlos syndromes (EDS) are a group of 14 heritable connective tissue disorders that produce a spectrum of complex problems across multiple systems of the body.
I am raising awareness and funds for The Ehlers-Danlos Society in honor of my older brother, Matthew. Unfortunately, this disease is still relatively unknown among the majority of the medical community. It is difficult to obtain an accurate diagnosis let alone receive the proper treatment. Each case is unique and severity may range dramatically. Sadly, my brother's case was extreme and he experienced the most detrimental symptoms including: generalized hypermobility, joint instability complications, widespread musculoskeletal pain, gastrointestinal disorders, and mast cell activation syndrome.
The Ehlers-Danlos Society is a global community dedicated to saving and improving the lives of those affected by the Ehlers-Danlos syndromes hypermobility spectrum disorders, and related conditions. Together, even a small amount can make a huge difference in developing protocols and treatments to better serve patients (like Matthew) struggling with this disorder.
